End of term papers are due, and that means lots of citation questions at library!
Here are a few places you can find help if you don’t have time to come in to ask a question.
The Library’s APA style page has a PDF with examples of in-text and reference list citations for different resources you may be using, as well as tutorials.
If you are in BUAD 123, check out the citation tab of the guide to find examples of specific sources you might be using in your report.
Ask a question by chat: use AskAway to chat live with a librarian, wherever you are!
If you are formatting your reference list and don’t know how to create a hanging indent (without using the Tab key), check out this post to find out how to automatically create a hanging indent in Word.
Is it your first time writing a research report? If it is, you might still need help understanding how and when to cite, and why it’s so important. The Library has a new guide on avoiding plagiarism— check it out if you have questions.
Good luck with your papers!
You may have noticed some changes in Business Source Complete (BSC) and it’s a great way to pinpoint your research. There’s a new addition to the interface – just look in the top menu bar for “Company Information.”
Company Information will lead you to a new component of BSC called Company Views, which provides “detailed company information for more than 1.1 million of the world’s largest public and private companies” (EBSCO). Company Views are searchable by company name, parent company name, ticker symbol, or keyword. Additionally, Company Views provides a Content in Context feature that allows you to refine your search to related information and publications including industry profiles, SWOT analyses, articles, market research reports and more.
Please note: Currently company profiles are not immediately appearing in Company Views. The database providor is working on a fix and we’ll keep you posted. In the meantime, be sure to still look for company profiles. One of the quickest ways is to select the ‘More’ tab in the top menu bar and select Company Profiles.
For more information on company research, visit the OC Library’s Company Research guide.
The library guides for BUAD 116, 123, 206, 293, and 370 have all been updated. In some cases, only small changes, in others, new resources have been added. Check them out!
